# Use cases

> Three worked examples, not customers, of an organization run by named desks — a software factory, a newsroom, and a back office — with every bot named for the job it does.

- [Software factory](https://chattic.us/use-cases/software-factory/index.md): A release goes out every week across four product surfaces. Each surface has its own backlog, its own risk, and its own definition of done. The desks are named for the surface and the job, so the whole roster reads like an org chart instead of a cast list.
- [Automated newsroom](https://chattic.us/use-cases/newsroom/index.md): A daily publication with a small human masthead and a full set of working desks. Newsrooms already name their desks for the work — assignment, wire, copy, standards — so the roster needed no invention at all.
- [Back office](https://chattic.us/use-cases/back-office/index.md): A twelve-person company with no finance department. The desks are named for the ledgers they keep, which is how bookkeeping has always been organised, and it makes the roster legible to an accountant who has never heard of any of this.
